We're back a week early, for the third part of what we are now considering our "APOCALYPSE Trilogy!" This time, Trev & Joe discuss what comes next for the cinematic X-MEN franchise in the wake of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Where do they think the series goes from here? What do they want to see, from both the next X-MEN movie itself, and spin-offs like NEW MUTANTS, WOLVERINE 3, GAMBIT, and the next DEADPOOL film? What story-lines are they hoping to see brought to life? And should the future of the franchise remain in the hands of Bryan Singer?

APOCALYPSE is here, ready to lay waste to both humanity AND the X-MEN franchise's goodwill with audiences and critics alike. In this episode, Trev & Joe share their review of the brand new X-MEN film, first offering general thoughts, before launching into a spoiler-filled discussion of the movie's highs and lows, including their favorite and least favorite characters and moments. What did Days of Future Podcast think of the most divisive film in the series yet? Listen on, and find out!

With X-MEN: APOCALYPSE on the horizon, Trev & Joe use this final pre-release episode to discuss the first batch of press reviews. What might we take away from the mixed response the film has so far received, especially in light of the very positive reaction DAYS OF FUTURE PAST received a couple years ago? Also, following their amazingly accurate DEADPOOL box-office predictions, the guys once again give their guesses at how the new film will do in the domestic box office. Then, the guys temporarily turn their attention away from the X-Universe to share their thoughts on CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR (which, to be fair, at least features one former mutant character in Scarlet Witch).

When cast member Sophie Turner shared a new photo from X-MEN:APOCALYPSE last week, it led to numerous questions. "Will Dazzler actually be appearing in the film? Will Taylor Swift truly play her?" And, "just who the hell IS Dazzler, anyway??"Thankfully, Trev & Joe are here for you, with this special look at Alison Blaire, aka Dazzler, x-ploring both her origins and her place in the X-universe. As a bonus, the guys also take a look at Lila Cheney, Marvel's OTHER rock'n'roll mutant from the '80s, and discuss a couple very well-done fan films starring the two characters.

Plus, thoughts on the latest APOCALYPSE trailer, rumors of X-23's cinematic debut, the over-excitement over the DEADPOOL DVD "special" features, and, perhaps most importantly, Trev reviews Red Robin's special X-Men themed burger, the Berserker X!!

Few X-Men fans would deny that, as the '90s came to an end, the once fantastic comic franchise had lost its way. With the surprise mega-success of Bryan Singer's 2000 film, it was important that Marvel get the property back on track. To do so, they turned to Scottish comic-writer superstar Grant Morrison, hoping he could re-invent the X-Men. And, boy, did he, as his NEW X-MEN run delivered a bold, and controversial new take on the team, unlike anything fans had seen. In this episode, Trev & Joe x-amine his kick-off story arc, "E is for Extinction," three issues that would drastically herald a new era for Marvel's merry mutants. But first, the guys discuss the SHOCKING confirmation of a Deadpool sequel, and take a look at a recent news story concerning "real life X-Men." Also, the Vine app, Banksy's real identity, and the acting skill of Dominic Purcell are all x-plored for some reason.

For 27 years, he was comics' ultimate man of mystery. The most popular X-Man of them all, Wolverine was known for his healing factor, adamantium claws, and - perhaps most intriguingly - the large question mark that hovered over his unknown early years. But that all changed in 2001, when Marvel finally decided to give us a peek at his secret beginnings, with Origin, a six-issue miniseries from Paul Jenkins, Andy Kubert and Richard Isanove. Now, 15 years later, Trev and Joe take a look back at this classic/controversial story, both discussing the reasons it came to be and reviewing the entire miniseries itself. But first, a look at some X-Men movie news, as the guys analyze the costumes in the latest Apocalypse group photo, ponder yet another Gambit delay, and give their thoughts on the rumored casting for Josh Boone's New Mutants. Plus, some talk of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the upcoming Mystery Science Theater 3000 cast reunion.

Trev and Joe are back to their usual X-Men-centric format (kind of), just in time to break-down the latest trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse. Bryan Singer's love of black leather costumes, familiar dialogue, a certain mega-star actually wearing blue make-up...all is discussed, as we the home-stretch to the new movie. Plus, the guys also discuss the new trailers for Captain America: Civil War and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (AKA: Tim Burton's X-Men). But first, some thoughts on the mid-season premiere of Agents of SHIELD, the OJ Show, Daredevil season two, and Megan Fox's recent run on Fox's The New Girl. So, like we said, welcome back to our version of all X-Men talk!

It's finally here - a long-awaited, long-teased, perhaps even long-threatened special episode. As the hit(?) ABC series Marvel's Agents of SHIELD prepares to return from its mid-season hiatus, Trev & Joe temporarily put aside all X-Men talk to dedicate an entire episode to an extensive, in-depth recap and discussion of the show so far. Has the series lived up to its potential? Did it even have any potential in the first place? Is it hampered or helped by its loose connection to the MCU? Are there actually any characters worth giving a damn about? And just how qualified ARE mechanics to run our nation's largest security organizations? All of these questions and more are tackled, as the guys walk you through the first two and half seasons of Agents of SHIELD. Will Joe's hatred of the show be too much for Trev's half-hearted defense to overcome? There's only way one way to find out...give it a listen!

We know which way the wind is blowing, and so in this episode Trev & Joe re-brand as Days of Future Deadpool, an "All Wade Wilson, All the Time" podcast. First, the guys eat their slices of humble pie regarding their Deadpool box-office predictions. Next, they share their thoughts on the movie itself, and what its success might mean for future X-Men and other superhero movies. Finally, they discuss the now classic Joe Kelly run of Deadpool comics that served as one of the primary inspirations for the film. So go grab a chimichanga, sit back and relax as Trev & Joe pay tribute to your new favorite character of all time!! DEADPOOL!!!

In the year 2000, X-Men fans were given what seemed to be a special treat. Legendary writer Chris Claremont, famous for his epic run writing the X-Men from 1975-1991, finally returned to the core X-titles for the first time in nine years. It was exciting! It was much hyped! It was...a complete disaster. In this episode, Trev & Joe take a look back at this now almost-forgotten, strange blip in comic history, when the greatest X-Men writer of them all was removed from the main X-Men books after only ten disappointing months. All is X-amined - the underwhelming new villains, the abandoned plot threads, and the behind-the-scenes drama that might have just doomed Claremont from the beginning. PLUS, the guys give their Deadpool box office predictions, discuss the announced casting for the Legion TV series, and share their thoughts on the X-Files revival (hey, it's somewhat X-related). All this, and more!

In this episode, it's a grab-bag of X-related topics (and, of course, some non-X-related topics). Trev & Joe find their enthusiasm for the Deadpool movie perhaps slightly enhanced, thanks to a fantastic marketing campaign. News that the Legion TV series will not connect to the X-Men movie universe leaves the guys wondering if a fully integrated X-media universe is even necessary. A new Making a Murderer-inspired X-Men project is pitched to Marvel (who we KNOW are listening). And Trev tells Joe all about the first batch of post-Secret Wars X-Men titles that he has recently read. All this and more (including some now standard Agents of SHIELD bashing from Joe), so give it a listen!

Finally, at long last, Trev & Joe give their thoughts on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Then, remembering this is an X-Men podcast, the guys turn their attention to the trailer for X-Men: Danger Room Protocols, a new upcoming fan-made animated web series. Then, they discuss the latest Deadpool trailer, and take a look at the recently unveiled pre-production artwork for the X-Force movie. Joe also gives his review of the crossover event, X-Men: The Twelve. All this, plus, a brand new installment of Chatting Tatum, in which the guys discuss C-Tate's role in the Hateful Eight, and how it might preview his work in Gambit, which somehow turns into a long discussion of Saturday Night Live. Again, this IS an X-Men podcast.

Trev & Joe ring in the New Year with the return of a special guest, AND an eagerly anticipated episode, as the guys once again sit down with Jelli of the Second Run Podcast, and provide a running commentary for Brett Ratner's 2006 opus, X-Men: The Last Stand, the final film in the original X-Men film trilogy. The film's highs and lows are discussed, in what we hope is a more fair commentary than many might expect. As always with our commentary episodes, you can watch the movie along with us as you listen, but it is certainly NOT a requirement.

It's the Christmas season, and Santa has brought Trev & Joe a very special guest for their latest episode: Jelli, from the Second Run Podcast. Together, the guys discuss the recently released first official trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse. Then, they take a look at two classic X-Men Christmas stories - "Demon," from Uncanny X-Men #143, and "Have Yourself a Morlock Little X-Mas," from the animated series. Plus, the current theater-going experience is critiqued, and Joe once again mounts an attack against Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. All this and more, on the Days of Future Podcast Holiday Special!

In this episode, Trev & Joe discuss how they feel about cosmic X-Men stories versus the more traditional earth-bound stories, and why recent real-world events in particular lead them to prefer one over the other. Also, they attempt to recast the original Star Wars trilogy with X-Men characters, and find they simply cannot agree on who should play Luke Skywalker. Plus, thoughts on recent rumors that Bryan Singer plans to stay on to direct more X-Men movies after Apocalypse, and Joe explains why he's excited about the upcoming New Mutants movie. All this, and way more Mystery Science Theater 3000 talk than one should ever reasonably expect to hear on an X-Men podcast.

Nov 16, 2015

In this super-sized episode, Trev & Joe are joined by a special guest and real-life girl, Christina Himmelspach (@stinaspach), in order to finally give the show some female perspective. The three provide, for its 21st anniversary, a full in-depth breakdown of the four-part adaptation of The Dark Phoenix Saga from the '90s X-Men: Animated Series, discussing its highs, lows, and weird decisions. Also, in the second ever episode of Chatting Tatum, the choice of Doug Liman to direct Gambit analyzed (and Tatum is fawned over, of course). The trio also ponder whether the Deadpool movie is being primarily marketed to "dude-bro's," and answer some listener questions regarding potential Deadpool cameo's in future X-films, Quicksilver's magic walk-man, and the "Rogue Cut" of Days of Future Past. And, Christina talks cosplaying, Trev defends himself against an infamous slanderous story that Joe won't let die, and the trio discuss the recent Shia LeBeouf "All My Movies" event. All this and more, on (perhaps) the most estrogen-friendly episode yet!

In this episode, Trev & Joe take a break from comics and movies and take a look at a couple X-Men related games. First, Joe reviews the Days of Future Past mobile game, before both guys recount their recent misadventure playing the Uncanny X-Men Alert Adventure Game, a 1992 board game more memorable for the figurines it contains than the game-play itself. Plus, "Ghoul Pools" are discussed, Joe details his sordid history with Heather Graham, Trev is flabbergasted to discover Whose Line Is It Anyway is still on the air, the guys argue about Johnny Depp AGAIN, and Joe takes Trev to task for attending a VHS swap-meet. So grab your Diet Mountain Dew, stock up on your Hit Chips, and give it a listen!

In this episode, Trev & Joe struggle to figure out what exactly a Days of Future Podcast Halloween Special even is. Scary X-Men stories, X-Men related costumes, and trick or treating mutants are all discussed, before finally the guys just give up and talk about the big news everyone really wants to hear about: Bryan Cranston's public declaration he wants to play Mr. Sinister, and the announcement of two new X-Men television series. But first, Joe advocates a revolutionary idea for TV broadcasting, the guys complain about snow, and Trev takes his damn time eating a Nilla Wafer. All this and more, on one of the least committed Halloween specials ever.

In this episode, Joe provides a full review of the original runs of Excalibur and X-Factor, which he finished mere minutes before recording! He then ranks all of the ongoing X-Men titles in the year 1998, where he currently resides in his Big X-Men Catch-Up. Plus, Trev & Joe discuss the new rumors about the potentially worrisome reason Rupert Wyatt quit the Gambit movie. Meanwhile, during all of this, the guys struggle to stay on the topic of X, as they also get into their thoughts on Diet Mountain Dew, Mean Girls Day, Trevor Noah's first week at the Daily Show, Doctor Who companions, Johnny Depp, and so much more. That's right...if you're a big fan of tangents, this is the episode of Days of Future Podcast for you!

Following an unplanned hiatus, Trev & Joe are finally back. After an apology and explanation of the "missing episode," the guys dive into the latest X-news: the Gambit movie loses its director, new pictures from X-Men: Apocalypse hit the web, and mutants and Inhumans go to war in the comic books. Also, the guys debut a brand new segment, Actor X-Change, in which they attempt to assign X-characters to particular actors. Not to mention, they share their long-awaited thoughts on the new Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

In this episode, Trev X-amines this summer's gigantic Secret Wars crossover, valiantly attempting to summarize the story-line, as well as letting X-fans know which particular mutant-related titles within the event they should be checking out. But first, Joe is shocked by how little he cares about Colossus during his big X-men catch-up, and "Magneto as hero" versus "Magneto as villain" is discussed. Also, the guys ponder a world with no Internet, and try to decide whether they'd rather meet President Clinton or President Obama.

At last, it's here. After months of teases and threats, the guys have finally made it official, debuting a brand-new spin-off podcast-within-a-podcast, Chatting Tatum! Not surprisingly, this installment's topic of discussion is the recent controversy regarding Channing almost leaving the Gambit movie. How did the guys take the news, and how do they feel about Tatum in its aftermath? But first - Trev has actually seen the new Fantastic Four movie, and he and Joe discuss both the general reaction to the movie and what it might mean for the rumored X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover film. Also, the guys give back, and answer some listener questions. So give us a listen, and let Trev & Joe Channing all over YOUR Tatum.

In this special after-hours episode of Days of Future Podcast, Trev watches and reviews "X-Men XXX: An Axel Braun Parody." With its comic accurate costumes and impressive team roster, is it possible this porn parody is more true to the source material than the Fox movies? And, more importantly, DO the X-Men use their mutant powers while getting it on? These questions and more are answered, as Trev proves he has no shame. But first, the guys discuss who they would share newly acquired mutant powers with, and Joe drops some X-Crement, as he takes issue with the preponderance of evil teams in the X-Universe.

In the most timely episode yet, Trev & Joe take a look at all the X-Men movie news to come out of the 20th Century Fox panel at this past weekend's San Diego Comic Con. What do the guys think of the incredibly well-received Deadpool trailer? Do they believe Hugh Jackman is really done playing Wolverine? How excited are they to see Storm's mohawk in X-Men: Apocalypse? All this and, perhaps most importantly, some thoughts on Channing Tatum's Gambit haircut. Finally, some quick discussion about other, non X-Men related Comic Con news. We promise this podcast is the next best thing to actually being at San Diego Comic Con!*

In 2001, producer Avi Arad and Marvel Studios brought the world "Mutant X," a sci-fi television series VERY LOOSELY connected to the X-Men comics (due to legal issues). Despite its tangential-at-best connection to the X-Universe, Trev and Joe have decided to give the show its day, by watching and reporting on both the pilot and the 66th and final episode (we'll leave it to some other X-Men podcast to bother with the other 64). But first, the guys discuss Joe's recent Emmy win, current news events and how they relate to the X-Men, and Rupert Wyatt being announced as the "Gambit" director (mostly just an excuse to swoon over Channing Tatum, yet again). Plus, the guys make a pitch to Vice President Joe Biden that, quite frankly, he would be a fool to turn down. Join the campaign! #BidenForDOFP
