We are finally going to lock in our 2023 dream casting (fan-casting?) of what we want to see for the X-Men in MCU. Plus Joe does the intro? And Trev is still mad about Mario.

Note: This episode was originally recorded before the release of the Deadpool 3 set photos, or the announcement of the current Hollywood strikes, which is why neither of those are discussed.

We're back once again to review the recent Ex-Terminators miniseries, by Leah Williams. A tribute to grindhouse exploitation pitting some of our favorite X-Women against vampires and a surprise mystery villain, the book seems like it should be right up our alley. But do we think it lived it up to its premise? We discuss this, and well as also talk the Super Mario Brothers movie, award show hosts (of course) and more.

We're back!! Again!!! That's right, after a lengthy hiatus, DOFP finally returns. For our catch-up episode, we're discussing our thoughts on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and it's portrayal of Namor (Marvel's first mutant, don't you know?). Then, we're sharing our take on Hugh Jackman returning to play Logan in the upcoming third Deadpool movie. Are we happy or disappointed with this news? We also speculate on the recently announced casting of Emma Corrin in the same movie. Plus, X-Men shoes, the MCU's X-plans, and much more. Give it a listen!

We've reconvened, in person together for the first time in years, to discuss the current state of mutants in the MCU, and more. We're sharing our thoughts on both Thor: Love & Thunder and Ms. Marvel (including THAT big reveal in the final episode), plus what why we believe there were no X-Men related announcements at this year's San Diego Comic Con. SDCC did, however, give us our first official look at the upcoming X-Men '97 animated series, and we discuss the lack of surprises in the character designs, but the interesting revelation of who will be team leader in the show. All this, and more!

In this episode, you get to hear both our pre and post Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness thoughts. First up, a conversation recorded before we saw the film, in which we discuss our expectations and predictions. And then, our post-movie thoughts, where we talk about what we got right, what we got wrong, and what we thought of the movie overall. Plus, what do we think this film says about the future of mutants in the MCU?

In their first ever video episode, Trev and Joe are x-amining the "Elite 8" of our annual Mutant March Madness tournament (which kicked off in episode 156 of the podcast). This time, it's a battle to determine the "Most Stylish Mutant." Join us as we decide whether Cable, Cyclops, Domino, Magik, Mister Sinister, Mojo, Storm, or Warlock will take this year's crown (or is it a trophy? As discussed in the episode, Trev doesn't know much about B-Ball).

It's time once again for our annual Mutant March Madness tournament. This time, we're pitting the costumes, designs, and overall "look" of 64 different mutant characters against each other. Which mutants do we believe are the most visually striking on the page? How important is an abundance of various costumes over the years versus one defining look? Is it better for villains to look "scary" or "cool?" All of this and more is considered, as we try to figure out which mutant is the most "stylish."

Note: This episode was recorded over Zoom, which is not our usual protocol. Apologies in advance for the audio (particularly on Trev's end) not being as clear as usual.

Did you hear it?? Did you hear Patrick Stewart's voice in the trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?? Well, we sure did, and we're here to break down all the wild speculation this confirmation of Professor X appearing in the movie kicked off. What version of Xavier will this be? How big a role will Stewart play? Might James McAvoy come along, as well? And is this the first step toward soon seeing other X-Men characters in the MCU? We're covering it all, baby.

But first, some discussion about whether X-Men comics should feel obligated to acknowledge real-world events, brief thoughts on the first issue of Peter Milligan and Michael Allred's X-Cellent #1, and - of course - our thoughts on all the recent Oscars controversy.

It's Valentine's Day, and we're feeling x-tra romantic. So in this episode, we're each sharing our own personal favorite, least favorite, and most hoped-for romances from the X-Universe. Did your most beloved X-couples make the cut?

But first, we discuss Steven Soderbergh's recent comments about superhero movies being sexless. Plus, it's the long awaited return of our podcast-within-a-podcast, "Chatting Tatum," as we look at Channing Tatum's revelations about his GAMBIT script and his disappointment about the movie never being made. All this, and more!

It's award show season, and if you're feeling the excitement, we've got you covered. With another year of X-Men comics behind us, it's time for the second annual Daysies, in which we each share our picks for the best X-Men artist, character, storyline, title, and more! Will both of us agree on any category? Will there be any repeat winners from last year? Listen on and find out!

After a holiday hiatus, we're back for a brand new season of Days of Future Podcast! That's right - it's our long-awaited third season premiere, and we're celebrating by sharing our overall thoughts on the state of the X-books as the "Reign of X" era, and Jonathan Hickman's time on the books, comes to a close. We briefly discuss both the "Trial of Magneto" and "Inferno" events, as well as our expectations and concerns about the upcoming post-Hickman world of the X-Men. This includes our takes on the new upcoming X-titles such as "Knights of X," "Sabretooth," "X-Men: Red," and "Immortal X-Men." Plus, we finally discuss our opinion of the recently announced X-Men '97 animated series for Disney+, as well as our predictions of whether any X-Men characters will be appearing in Doctor Strange & the Multiverse of Madness.

All this, plus our usual trademark pre-topic banter, this time covering the unaired Golden Globes, Bob Saget, potential Lorne Michaels successors, who should host the Oscars, and more. Yep...we're definitely back.

It's the Spoopiest time of the year, so you know what that means - Trev and Joe once again trying to figure out just what a Halloween episode of this show should even be! Thankfully, this time we have not one but TWO Halloween related issues to discuss. First up is the recently released "X-Men #4," which sees Jean Grey doing psychic battle with the Doctor Strange villain Nightmare on the night before Halloween. Next up is "X-Men Unlimited Vol. 2, #1," from 2004, featuring a story about the students of Xavier Academy trick-or-treating, free of worries about being in public with their mutations showing. It's a double-dose of October chills, X-Men style.

But first, plenty of talk about Halloween parades, children's costumes, and, for some reason, foot fetishists. Also, we discuss the news regarding the long-awaited release of Peter Milligan and Michael Allred's "The X-Cellent" ongoing series.

Oct 14, 2021

For our 150th episode spectacular, we're perhaps going the obvious route, and taking an in-depth look at "Uncanny X-Men #150," from October of 1981. On its 40th anniversary, we're taking a look at this classic tale from writer Chris Claremont and artist Dave Cockrum - a very famous and important chapter in the ongoing battle/relationship between the X-Men and their most important villain, Magneto. Is it still just as x-citing a read today as it was when first released?

But first - discussion about the recent announcement of a Wolverine video game from the same studio that made the beloved Spider-Man games, INHUMANS star Anson Mount throwing his hat in the ring for the eventual MCU Gambit, and a new creative team for "Marauders." All this, and more!

The comics world and X-Men fans in particular were recently rocked by the news that, upon the conclusion of his "Inferno" event, Jonathan Hickman will be entirely leaving the X-Books, much earlier than many were expecting. As the grand architect of this new era of the X-Men, Hickman has been a controversial figure in X-fandom, but there's no denying the impact he has had on the status quo of these characters and their world. So what does it mean when the man who has overseen it all, departs? We're here to discuss the potential fallout of this announcement, including whether we're worried about the direction of the books in his absence, and whether we think the admitted change of plans that led to his exit means his overall artistic vision was compromised by Marvel and his other collaborators.

But first, some quick thoughts on SHANG-CHI & THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS, and the recent Twitter flare-up regarding rumors of the MCU dropping "Men" from the X-Men name for the upcoming movies.

Sep 6, 2021

We're back, and once again looking at a bizarre "X-oddity" of the past - this time, a free promotional tie-in comic from 1983, made in partnership between Marvel and the Dallas Times Herald, in which the X-Men must try to stop Magneto from recruiting a young half-man, half-horse mutant...while also taking in all the exciting sights and attractions the Texas State Fair has to offer!

Bur first, we discuss a speculative "80s X-Men movie cast" meme, when and where we'll get the first actual mutant appearance in the MCU, and our thoughts on the SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME trailer and Disney +'s WHAT IF?.

Jul 28, 2021

In Part Two of our look at the multi-issue "Hellfire Gala" story, we discuss the fallout of the gigantic revelation that the mutants have terraformed Mars. There's a new Regent of Mars, and we are very excited about their identity. Plus, there were multiple deaths during the party (cause let's face it, it wouldn't be a mutant party without trouble), and each promises intriguing new story directions in the months to come...including the eagerly anticipated "Trial of Magneto." Plus, we take at look at X-Men #1, Gerry Duggan's relaunch of the core title, now focused on the recently elected X-Men team and their mission to publicly protect ALL of humanity.

Also, we share our thoughts on the LOKI show, and what it might mean for the future of mutants in the MCU. We discuss the apparent first appearance of a mutant in the MCU in BLACK WIDOW. And our thoughts on rumors of Michaela Cole being cast as Storm in BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER. All this, and more!

The long-awaited Hellfire Gala is upon us, and it's such a big party, it's taking us two episodes to discuss it. This time, we're looking at the first six issues, with special attention paid to the gigantic, world-shattering (or in this case, world-building) events of Gerry Duggan's "Planet-Size X-Men #1." The mutants of Krakoa have just taken another huge step in showing how powerful they are now, in a move that is sure to have big ramifications for the entire Marvel universe, and we're ready to talk about what it all means.

But first, a discussion about the end of Conan O'Brien's Late Night career sparks speculation on which X-Men member would make the best talk show host. Plus, our thoughts on the first few episodes of Disney+'s LOKI. All this, and more!

Jun 10, 2021

In this episode, we're looking at a true X-Men oddity, the 2009 one-shot "X-Women," written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by legendary Italian artist Milo Manara. Perhaps best known to many American comic readers for his controversial "Spider-Woman" cover, Manara is primarily known for his work in erotic comics. And this is no different, presenting a hyper-sexually-charged look at an adventure of Kitty Pryde, Storm, Rogue, Psylocke, Rachel Summers, and Emma versus the evil Baroness. That this comic even exists - not a fan-work but an actual, official X-book put out by Marvel only a little over a decade ago - is sorta mind-boggling today, so of course we need to check it out. Apologies if our steamy discussion gets anyone hot and bothered!

But first, some brief talk about recent X-Men titles, X-Men video games, and X-Men socks. All this, and more!

May 15, 2021

In true timely DOFP fashion, we're finally sharing our overall thoughts on THE FALCON & THE WINTER SOLDIER, the latest MCU Disney+ series. Sure, maybe it's X-connections were tangential at best, but IS the latest big Marvel property to discuss, and that will have to do before we start getting some real X-Men content in the MCU.

Also, we DO talk some X-Men, when we take a look at some of the fancy outfits our favorite mutants will be wearing to the Hellfire Gala in the upcoming Marvel Comics event, and the resultant online Colossus thirst. And we answer a listener question regarding the potential of mutants using the online celebrity messages service, Cameo. All this and more!

Apr 22, 2021

No, this isn't another parallel universe episode where Trev & Joe are hosting an Avengers podcast, but we ARE taking a look at a recently completed story-arc in the Jason Aaron's current AVENGERS book, as it has obvious connections to X-Men AND will most likely have gigantic repercussions for the entire Marvel universe. That's right, Trev recently read the six-issue "Enter the Phoenix" storyline, which not only saw the return of the Phoenix Force to Marvel, but also introduced a brand new Phoenix host! Who is it? Well, we'll only say right now that it's NOT Jean Grey, but to find out more, you can listen as Trev performs a DOFP Storytime, walking Joe through the storyline and sharing his overall thoughts on the tale.

Also, it's Final Four time, as we determine the winner of this year's Mutant March Madness, looking at the Best X-Characters Not Featured in the Fox Movie Franchise! Plus, discussion of Madripoor being featured in FALCON & THE WINTER SOLDIER, rumors of a potential WOLVERINE Disney+ series, and our thoughts on the recently announced team roster for Gerry Duggan's upcoming X-MEN relaunch. All this, and more.

Mar 30, 2021

We're back for our annual Mutant March Madness tournament! This time around, we're taking a look at 64 X-Men universe characters that were never represented (or only appeared VERY briefly) in the Fox X-Men franchise. That's right, even in a ten year franchise with numerous films, there are still tons of comic characters that never made the cinematic cut, and we're ready for a spirited discussion in which we'll bring this incredible roster of characters still waiting for their chance to shine in Hollywood down to a Final Four...with the ultimate winner to be determined in our next episode? But who will make up that Final Four?? Listen on to find out!

And now, a timely review of Marvel's WANDAVISION! That's right, we've had a few weeks to process the entire series, and we're finally ready to share our thoughts. Of course, we discuss the show's X-Men connections (or lack thereof), while also sharing our overall opinions on what worked and what didn't. Plus, we take a look at recent rumors regarding future MCU plans, and decide if there's any validity to them.

During the 90s, Blockbuster Video teamed up with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to launch Blockbuster Kidprint, a well-intentioned but undeniably strange program dedicated to keeping children safe. For the kids who took part in 1996, one perk was a free X-Men comic special, "Be X-Tra Safe with Blockbuster Video Kidprint & the X-Men," in which our heroes teach a young child all about Stranger Danger. In this episode, we take an in-depth look at this odd piece of X-Men history, discussing its good messages versus its disturbing storytelling decisions.

But first, some more WandaVision discussion, Joe tries to guess X-Men movie characters from their first and last spoken lines in the Fox franchise, and we share our thought's on Tini Howard's new "X-Corps" book. All this, and more!

If you've seen Episode Five of WANDAVISION on Disney+, you know it ended with a shocking surprise(?) that might have huge ramifications on the future of the MCU, and the X-Men's place in it. In this episode, we discuss our overall thoughts on the show so far, and then do a deep dive into that moment and share what we think it all means.

But first, we discuss Marvel recently letting fans vote on the final member of the X-Men team in the comics, and the resultant controversy, and also preview three upcoming X-Titles, "X-Men: Legends," "Children of the Atom," and "Way of X." Plus, we try to figure out why Joe no longer cares about the Super Bowl, and try to figure out if Trev actually knows who Claire Danes is. All this, and more!

Jan 21, 2021

In 2011, Marvel Entertainment teamed with Japanese animation studio Madhouse on a set of four 12-episode anime series, each featuring Marvel superheroes sent on adventures in Japan. Each overseen by problematic comic superstar Warren Ellis, the shows were a unique blend of traditional Marvel tales with anime sensibilities. As these shows have recently been added to US Netflix streaming, we figured it's a perfect time to take a look at one of those series, WOLVERINE, which sees Logan trying to save his love, Mariko, from Shingen, her crime-lord father, and Hideki, an evil gangster she is being forced to marry. How does the series stack up against other Wolverine adaptations, and X-Men stories in general? We offer our thoughts.

But first - A "rumor round-up" examining recent scuttlebutt about a possible MCU Storm movie and Evan Peters reprising Quicksilver in WANDAVISION; Kevin Feige talks DEADPOOL 3; and we try to fan-cast Ben Affleck in the X-Men universe. All this, and more!
